SONG OF THE WEEK:
"The 1975" by The 1975 ft. Greta Thunberg
Though this song isn't your typical one, this feature track in The 1975's upcoming album "Notes on a Conditional Form" is incredibly powerful. With all of the controversy surrounding Thunberg's campaign to advocated for action to be taken against climate change, creating art such as this is so necessary to get people to listen. Click here to read Thunberg's compelling words she speaks in the song.
ARTIST OF THE WEEK:
Beabadoobee
I had only heard about Beabadoobee around 6 months ago, and I've absolutely fallen in love with her and her music. Coming into the music scene with an alternative indie sound, her music reminds me of the 90s, and a bit of the grunge scene at the time. She's signed to the "Dirty Hit" British independent label created by Jamie Oborne, who represents other acts such as The 1975, Wolf House, and The Japanese House. Bea has come out recently with her EP "Loveworm", which drew inspiration from her and her boyfriend, Soren's, relationship. Her voice is one of the most soothing I've ever heard, and for such a young artist, she's pulling major moves such as opening for Mac DeMarco and working with The 1975 on her new music to come. Definitely a rising artist to keep your eye on.
Some songs you should listen to from her:
- "1999"
- "Coffee"
- "You Lie All The Time" (Bedroom Session)
ALBUM OF THE WEEK:
"Balloon's Don't Float Here" by Isaac Dunbar
So I found Isaac Dunbar literally just today, and I've already fallen in love with his music. The first song I listened to from him was "Cologne" and I liked it almost instantly because of the chill dance pop vibes the song gave off. However, with more upbeat songs like "Blonde", they made me feel more energetic and hyped, like I was at a high school party on the dance floor. Overall, Isaac Dunbar gives me very Troye Sivan-King Princess vibes, and I'm looking very forward to hearing more from this talented, upcoming young artist.
SOME OTHER NOTABLE MENTIONS:
- "Glass House" by Gabriel Lynch
- "Y U Gotta Be Like That" by Audrey Mika
- "Luv Note" by Chloe Moriondo
- "Home Video" by Cehryl
- "Followin'" by Audrey Mika
- "Holding The Gun" by Sabrina Claudio
- "Sweet" by Cigarettes After Sex
